Our Story

Sepelas is a restaurant owned by Kennedy and Kety who came from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United States of America in 2013 , We have three wonderful kids together – two girls and one boy.
Our family  settled in Champaign- Urbana, Illinois and we really have made it home. It is a small and charming University town with  increasingly growing oportunities, new visitors and activities.  We always dream of starting an African restaurant together here in Champaign- Urbana where we had a great success for the past four years.  For many years we worked in a warehouse, but the idea kept coming up. In 2020, we decided to make the restaurant happen. 

We worked hard to make this dream come true. In 2023, finally we made it. Now we moved to Danville, IL and we would love to continue cook & serve you!
